About the library

The Library of the Physics Faculty in its current form was established by the Council of the Physics Faculty decision of February 2014.  It was created by merging three institute libraries: Institute of Experimental Physics, Institute of Theoretical Physics and Institute of Geophysics. This was made possible by the relocation of the entire Faculty from its premises at 69 Hoża Street to a new building at 5 Pasteur Street in the Ochota Campus.

The library has a spacious circulation area, where we have located workstations for browsing the BUW online catalogue and a readers’ service desk. The Library has two closed and two open reading rooms adapted to various forms of work: a club room with armchairs for both studying and relaxing, a classic room with separate tables for quiet work, a group room with one large table that can be used for collaborative work, and a digital room with workstations equipped with laptops. We also have four individual work booths.

Textbooks and other frequently borrowed books are located in the Open Stacks. Books from the Closed Stacks (Magazyn) can be ordered directly through the librarian on duty or electronically via the BUW catalogue.

A scanner is available to the public in the library. Readers have access to wi-fi (to the open fuw-open network and to the eduroam network).
